Print Sale is Golden (and Green!)

A many, many thanks to all those who stopped by our Graduate Print Sale in the Student Union this weekend! Over two days, collectively we sold almost $1400 worth of prints. 25% of proceeds will help all of us get one step closer to attending the annual Southern Graphics Conference in Philly this March.

A huge thanks to the collective for really coming together and showcasing the power of printmaking.

Print Fairs are around the corner...

A reminder to the Collective-

The IFPDA Print Fair and the Pimp Your Prints Fair are coming up, the weekend of Nov. 6th-8th.

We are organizing an outing to go to the IFPDA Print Fair on Friday, Nov. 6th at 5pm. A group will leave from the Pratt at 4pm, but you can certainly meet us there. If you have participated in a Collective event either this year or last and are one of the first 10 people to contact us, we will cover 1/2 your ticket cost!

So mark your calendars for the print fairs as well as Pratt's MFA Open Studios, which is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13th and Sunday, Nov. 15th.

3rd+Bond Apartments Now Open

Collective Co-Presidents Susie Dreifuss and Bonnie Whitfield just wrapped up a project for a new LEED-certified apartment building in Brooklyn called 3rd+Bond. Along with Pratt design alumni and a handful of current students, Bonnie and Susie helped to furnish the 2 showroom apartments. They designed and printed pillows, table runners, and hand towels as well as displayed fine art prints on the walls.

Here are some photos from both the opening and the project as well as some online reviews to learn more about the project.

Clean Out Your Flat Files & Sell Prints

In order to help the collective, you, and your looming stack of editions, please begin to clean out your files and submit prints to the print sales.

Here's how it works:
  • Prints are sold for $1, $5, $10, $20 - cheap, yes, but the do sell!!!
  • Half the sales go to you (the artist) and the other half goes towards the collective (aka, Southern Graphics & fun print things!).
  • Use this as a time to get rid of extra undergrad prints or APs.

To submit prints:
  • Adhere blue/painters tape to the bottom back of your prints with your NAME & PRICE.
  • Drop off prints to Bonnie or Susie in 6W in the basement of Engineering OR to Laimah in ELJ 410.

As specific print sales get closer, we will have designated drop off times, but until then, just knock, find us, & give us prints!

The first print sale we are aiming to do is on Tuesday, September 15th from 5:30 to 7:30pm, as a part of the Pratt Club Fair on the main campus quad.

Welcome!

Time to sharpen the gouges, clean the screens, polish the plates, and sand the stones!  It's time to start school and print.

The Pressure Print Collective would like to welcome returning graduate students, incoming 1st years, and senior undergrads.  Thanks to our generous Pratt budget, we have many exciting events to look forward to this upcoming year: Fall and Spring Open Studios, the 2nd Annual Portfolio Exchange and Print Swap, and last but not least...The Southern Graphics Council Conference (held in Philly this year).

The aim of this blog is to keep everyone up-to-date on print events, both on campus and around the New York Area.  Stay turned for ways to get involved with the collective.

Again, welcome and happy printing!

-Bonnie Whitfield and Susie Dreifuss, 2009-10 Co-Presidents
